Hi guys, sorry if this has been up here before but I can't seem to find any Gundam 00 icons of the actual units themselves from either season and I have spent quite a while looking. If anyone can help please do so and again sorry if this post has been asked before. |

Remember, Thursday, 11:59 pm Eastern US time is the deadline for defaulting without penalty! This is not your story deadline, it's just the deadline by which you can default without any penalty imposed for future Yuletide participation.
If you default after this point, for any reason, a penalty may be imposed in order to qualify for future participation. Whether or not there is a penalty is at the discretion of the mods. |

| Screencaps - Episode 3 |

What's with me taking one whole month between these posts? XD; I've had this and episode 4's screencaps ready for over a month, I'm just really lazy about uploading it and posting. 8D; I FOUND ONE WAY TO MAKE IT EASIER, I'm not going to bother tagging the characters for each cap from now on. That took the longest, and was really kinda pointless since every episode tends to have tons of character shots for that episode's character, so it's easy to find already.
In other news...
Did you guys notice this at the Del Rey website? Apparently...the last 3 volumes of the Mushishi manga will be released in one volume, in July of 2010.
I am SO conflicted about this! I don't want it to end so soon. And I need to digest Mushishi slowly, haha... |

| Accepting letters for Hatano Wataru! |

Hi everyone! It's almost Christmas so I'm accepting fan letters (no presents this time, sorry) for Hatano Wataru. This'll be the third year I'm doing this so some of you may be familiar with this already. Basically you send me your letter and I forward it to Hatano. It's that simple.
Deadline is December 15. Sorry, short notice. If you would like to send a letter, please let me know! (And please write it ASAP so you can get it to me in time.) Thanks!
Some notes:
- Hatano only understands Japanese but letters in any language are accepted. He claims his English his horrible but I think he should understand the very basics.
- No personal remarks/questions. Keep it clean.
- Seal your letter in an envelope and mail it to me in a larger envelope. I won't be opening up any of your letters and will just be sticking it in with my package. Poke me for my address when you're ready.

I realise I could sum this up in 'afk til 24th, brb', but for the love of the English language-- I'll be gone from the 10th to the 24th, tripping around various Polish cities and Prague and trying to stay toasty in my recent haul Uniqlo of wool and fleece and thermal clothes. eheheh. would be more excited if I didn't have two more essays to finish between now and then! I will totally take photos you guys.
(another announcement like this will go up later in the month because I'll be tripping around Slovenia, Croatia and Hungary from the 1st to the 8th of January as well. again with the not-freezing! when the clock strikes twelve and the year changes I suspect I will be either frantically packing or camping out in a London budget airport. also, I am so psyched about Budapest.)

| FAQ: When Will We Find Out about Uploading for Yuletide 2009? |

And the answer is...not quite yet. There's still a bit of testing and migrating of tags and other information that has to happen before the AO3 is ready for us!
However, we understand that time is passing quickly, and some people are concerned that they may not be available at the point uploading does become possible. If this is likely for you, what you'll need to do is find someone who has or will have an AO3 account (ie, any of your fellow Yuletiders will do; you'll all be getting invites when the archive is moved over) to upload for you.
What that person will then have to do is upload from their own account, listing themselves as a co-author on your story, and then they can remove their name from the story, leaving it with you as the "owner."
I've made a post to yuletide where people can offer to serve as uploaders for anyone who needs a proxy, and it will list the information you'll need to send them. |

(Because I know that some of us are at various stages and are starting to think about pushing the panic button.)
Remember everything your Language Arts/Composition/English teachers labored to instill into your heads about being very concise and, um, oh yeah, adverbs were the great woogy evil?
(And yet they made you read classics where things were described in excruciating detail down to the last sub-atomic particle and completely failed to see the conflict?)
Well, forget their advice and get in touch with your inner dead Victorian!
Never use one word if you think you might be able to get away with three or four of them!

I'm not saying that you shouldn't do the best you can under the circumstances. I'm saying that your target audience isn't the EIC Grinch in Chief of the Ivory Tower Snooty Pants Review and Bastion of Artistic Pretense.
It's US.
Frankly, I'm always amazed and delighted that somebody took vorpal keyboard in hand and snicker-snacked back at the holiday madness long enough to get the gorram thing written and uploaded for somebody who's probably a stranger.

Reach for your thesaurus. Adjectives and adverbs are can be amongst your dearest friends indeed at a time like this.
And who knows, one of those extra bits of description you worked in because ZOMG! 980 words and it's got a beginning, middle, and end, and I've got to squeeze out an extra 25 words just to be sure, might be what your recipient thinks is *the* perfect detail that shows how much you've got the character/world/situation nailed. ;) |
